Protection after neutral rust removal

Quick answer

Rust removal addresses existing corrosion; it does not establish continued protection during later storage. Review rinsing, drying, downstream processing and storage conditions.

Selection and validation

QMU-311 and QMU-312 provide neutral rust removal and combined oil/rust removal directions respectively. Assess subsequent water-based protection against substrate, storage duration, packaging and residue requirements.

Record actual water quality, humidity, drying and packaging. Do not transfer protection durations or salt-spray results from another model to the current application.

Before a component trial

  • Alloy grade, finish and actual contamination.
  • Equipment, trial concentration, temperature, time and water quality.
  • Rinsing, drying, downstream requirements and agreed acceptance criteria.

Check documentation: Product models · Certificate and test report originals · Request model-specific TDS / SDS
